Golden Globes Fashion Recap: Metallics, Monochrome and Pantsuits
January 14, 2015

In my family, gathering to watch award shows has been something of a cult ritual since I was old enough to appreciate celebrity obsession. The Oscars, the Grammys, the Golden Globes—we sit around eating copious amounts of food, vehemently judging every performer, presenter, celebrity and security guard in sight. In addition to the jokes, the tipsy celebrities, the concerning amount of selfie sticks, there is the fashion and the style. Sunday's Golden Globes did not disappoint in this department. The trends of the evening seemed to be more skewed than usual, but it gave us style-obsessed people at home more...

Video: Is Wearable Tech Finally Fashionable?
January 7, 2015

Lately there's been a ton of talk about wearable tech, but so far, it hasn't quite caught on the way some people have predicted it would. Part of the problem? Walking around looking like Robocop isn't exactly fashion-forward.

But some tech companies are looking to change that by making wearables that wouldn't look out of place at Paris Fashion Week. In this video, CNN Money took a look at some handbags that display tweets, bracelets that charge your phone, and bangles that light up when you get a phone call, to find out if wearable tech can be pretty, too.

Old Navy Makes Another Plus-size Gaffe
January 7, 2015

Old Navy is at the center of yet another controversy regarding its treatment of plus-size customers.

Just six weeks after the retailer was forced to defend its decision to charge its female shoppers more money for larger sizes, a plus-size customer on Reddit has slammed the store for making its online plus-size menu option twice the size of every other menu.

"Thanks for reminding me that I take up enough space for two categories, Old Navy," user iChasedragons commented alongside an image of the offending menu, which seems to only appear on the brand's Canadian website.

Loose Workout Clothes Are In
January 7, 2015

Some trends aren't for everyone (see: crop tops). But this is one we think most people can get behind: Tight and unforgiving workout wear is giving way to fitness apparel that's loose, breezy and more flattering for a wider variety of figures.

"The trend toward greater comfort is cropping up in every realm of fashion, and workout clothing is no exception," says Jen Sinkler, personal trainer at The Movement Minneapolis and creator of the Lift Weights Faster training program. "The goal—and one I'm not knocking—seems to be to get everything to feel like pajamas, from evening wear to yoga wear."

Teen Claims Oakland A's Stole His T-shirt Design
January 7, 2015

There was at least one person from Oakland not "stOAKed" that the Oakland Athletics were in the playoffs. That would be 16-year-old Ryan Frigo, who claims the Major League Baseball team stole the phrase from his clothing company, according to the East Bay Express.

Frigo has been selling T-shirts, hoodies, beanies and other items of clothing featuring the "stOAKed" brand—intended, he said, to stoke civic pride in Oakland—since 2012, according to the newspaper. And yet somehow, that exact phrase ended up on the officially-licensed T-shirts sold by the A's to celebrate their playoff run.

The Hottest New Men's Fashion Statement? Brightly Patterned Socks
December 31, 2014

Practical and predictable as gifts, socks have the misfortune of being stuffed way under the tree and deliberately left off many wish lists. That is until a footwear revolution of paisley, pastel and polka-dotted hosiery started appearing on the ankles of American men.

This year, the nearly $6 billion sock industry will be front and center for gift exchanges, thanks to a fashion sock boom.

Just ask GQ.

"Socks are a very good intro for a guy who is just deciding I want to be more stylish," says GQ style writer Jake Woolf.

So, why socks?
