In an ongoing effort to maintain sustainable business practices, Westbury-based promotional product distributor Motivators announced the company has partnered with CarbonFreeFund.org, the nation’s leading nonprofit provider of carbon offset and climate solutions to offset the carbon omissions produced by the company every year. Motivators Inc. is now listed as a carbon neutral business.
The decision to offset emissions was one that came easily to Motivators CEO Ken Laffer, MAS, especially since this is the second environmental campaign undertaken by the company. The first, which plants trees through the American Forest’s Global ReLeaf Fund, has proven successful. “We are dedicated to giving back to the environment in every way that we can,” Laffer said. “By choosing to partner with CarbonFund.org and become a carbon neutral business, we are leaving a positive mark on the environment, rather than a negative one.”
The process to become a carbon neutral business began with determining Motivators carbon footprint, which was significantly lower than other businesses because of environmental practices already in place by the company. Carpool programs save on transportation emissions and in-house recycling efforts help as well. Additionally, energy-saving techniques put into practice by the company’s in-house IT department have greatly reduced energy costs. After determining their carbon footprint, the company chose the Truck Stop Electrification project as their donation project of choice. The project, which reduces carbon emissions from freight trucks, was a perfect fit for Motivators since the company ships promotional products all across the country.
