Baseball Season Makes for Great Golf Promos
Golf is an interesting sport, because it's a lot of athletes' other great love. Baseball players, football players, hockey players, soccer players. They love hitting the links in the offseason (or during the season).
The same goes for fans, too. And it's cool that golf is a game that allows for that sort of cross-pollination, especially in the form of promotional products.
Now that baseball season has ended (in disappointing fashion for us in Philadelphia), we've gotten a look at some cool baseball-related golf promos that have popped up celebrating both the Astros' victory and some older wins, too.
Swag Golf, a company that first made a name for itself by dropping limited runs of personalized golf head covers, has since landed licensing deals with MLB teams. Through that partnership, the Chicago-based company is celebrating the Cubs' 2016 World Series victory over Cleveland by putting the scoreboard from the winning moment on the bottom of a putter.
“We’re a golf company but we’re also a Chicago company through and through – and there has been no more exciting moment in Chicago sports history than the 2016 Cubs World Series victory," Swag Golf founder and owner Nick Benson told The Golf Wire. "We’ve been fortunate to work with the Chicago Cubs on several projects this year, and to be able to commemorate Game 7 on one of our most popular putters has been special for us."
Each of the 16 putters also come with a matching head cover, too.
Now, begrudgingly, we'll take a look at some of the Astros' World Series merchandise, which also features heavily in the golf category.
There's obviously a ton of apparel and houseware products, but golf plays a large role alongside more baseball-themed products like bats and balls.
There are golf ball sets with the team logo and "World Series Champion," there are diver repair tool/ball marker sets, there are embroidered golf towels, there are ball marker hat clips, and there are plenty of golf shirts.
