Old Navy customers are blowing their tops. Angry shoppers are painting Twitter red in response to girls’ shirts the retailer reportedly is selling that say “Young Aspiring Artist” with the word “artist” crossed out and replaced with “astronaut” or “president” instead.
Critics complain that the slogan turns children away from pursuing creative endeavors.
“Seems @OldNavy thinks discouraging kids from a career in the arts is funny. #fail,” tweeted Peter Shankman. “As an entrepreneur and a trained musician, I'm hella offended by this shirt.”
The graphic tees and sweatshirts don’t appear to be for sale on the Old Navy website anymore, although social media screenshots caught the offending products available online as recently as Tuesday.
