Avery Dennison Affirms Commitment to Bangladesh Apparel Sector

Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (RBIS) affirmed its commitment to Bangladesh to continue to invest in its more than 1,000 employees as well its manufacturing facilities and service capabilities.

"We remain committed to supporting the apparel industry in Bangladesh through continued investments in our employees, facilities, manufacturing capabilities, and the local community," said Shawn Neville, president, Avery Dennison RBIS. Domino Printing Profit Falls, Writes Down TEN Media Investment

Barcode-printer maker Domino Printing Sciences reported a 3 percent fall in first-half profit as selling and distribution costs rose and it wrote down the value of its investment in TEN Media LLC to 10 percent of the original cost.

Shares in the company, which makes printers to stamp barcodes and expiry dates on products, fell as much as 6 percent in early trading on the London Stock Exchange.

Domino Printing paid $50 million last year for a 15 percent stake in U.S.-based TEN Media, whose technology marks eggshells with information such as size, grade and packing date.

Ennis Inc. Acquires Select Assets of Goodwin Graphics

Ennis Inc. and Goodwin Graphics have reached an agreement where Ennis Inc. has acquired all artwork and production files from Goodwin Graphics. By gaining all of the current files it will allow Ennis to seamlessly continue to service existing Goodwin Graphics customers.

Intelligencer Printing Buys Lancaster Ultra-Graphics of Landisville

Intelligencer Printing Co. on Tuesday completed the purchase of Lancaster Ultra-Graphics, Landisville, for an undisclosed price.

The acquisition is expected to "easily double" Intell Printing's print-on-demand revenue, said Robert Mason, Intell Printing president and chief executive officer.

Print-on-demand jobs typically involve small, color runs of digitally produced pieces that can be customized for the individual recipient.

They're popular for business-to-business marketing pieces and college marketing pieces.

Mason said he is excited to add Lancaster Ultra-Graphics' expertise in this area.

"The real key is their ability to manage and produce smaller digital runs efficiently," Mason said.

National Envelope Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Envelope maker National Envelope filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday, its second such filing in three years.

The company said it will consider filing a plan of reorganization or selling its assets to the highest bidder at a bankruptcy court-overseen auction. It says it has received "significant interest" to date from potential bidders, which it hopes would lead to a "spirited and robust bidding process" if it does in fact pursue a sale.

One potential bidder is publicly traded bidder Cenveo Inc., The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. A Cenveo representative couldn't immediately be reached for comment Monday.

Zoo Printing Begins Full Production in New Jersey

Trade printer Zoo Printing, Commerce, Calif., officially opened its newest full production facility—50,000 square feet in West Deptford, N.J., on June 3. The facility is now producing four-color offset, four-color digital, large format and one- and two-color products.
