Broder Bros. Announces Record Second Quarter

Broder Bros. announced record second quarter results for its quarter ended June 25, 2011. The company also increased its Fiscal 2011 EBITDA guidance and announced that it has begun a series of initiatives to increase the liquidity in the company's common stock, commencing with a registration statement on Form 10 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 2, 2011.

Second quarter 2011 net sales were $227.1 million compared to $211.6 million for the second quarter 2010. Income from operations for the second quarter 2011 was $23.3 million compared to $9.1 million for the second quarter 2010.

Cotton Prices Fall Despite U.S. Drought

Cotton has failed to perform, with prices falling by 37 per cent over the past 30 days, even as yields are expected to be affected by hot weather and drought this summer in the U.S.

The U.S. is the top exporter of cotton, and Texas accounts for about 50 percent of U.S. output. According to U.S. agriculture department reports, producers intended to plant about 5.5 million hectares of cotton this year—the most in five years and up 25 percent year-on-year. However, a record 30 percent of crops are now expected to be abandoned because of the dry weather.

Delta Apparel Reports 12% Revenue Growth
