Visstun Receives WorldStar Packaging Award
Visstun, Las, Vegas, and Paper Machinery Corporation (PMC) have been selected as winners of the 2010 WorldStar Packaging Competition in the beverage category for the "Barrier Plus Promotional Beverage Cups" entry (Visstun's Reusable Clear Plastic Cups). This was the first time Visstun has received the award and the company was one of only five U.S.-based entries honored.
The competition is organized by the World Packaging Organization (WPO), a nonprofit, nongovernmental, international federation of packaging institutes, associations, federations and other interested parties including corporations and trade associations. This year, there were 278 entries from 30 countries, including 12 submissions from USA.
The entries were judged by 24 jury members from 20 countries, including an International Packaging Press Organization (IPPO) member, on nine criteria:
- Protection and preservation of contents
- Ease of handling, filling, closing, opening and reclosing
- Sales appeal
- Graphic design
- Quality of production
- Cost reduction, economy of material
- Environment compatibility - recyclability
- Ingenuity of construction
- Suitability for local conditions (production, materials, market, etc.)
Winners were honored in a ceremony during Interpack in Düsseldorf on May 17.
Ed Hamilton, Visstun president, said, "Receiving the WorldStar Packaging Award is an amazing honor because it recognizes the very best companies across the globe. We are humbled to be part of this esteemed group yet proud that we can deliver award-winning, innovative products that are unlike anything else on the market."
