Seattle Port Terminal Reopens After Labor Dispute
Terminal 18 at the Port of Seattle reopened this morning after a dispute with the longshore union resulted in a closure Tuesday afternoon, KIRO reported. Ships could not be unloaded during the shutdown.
According to the report, longshoremen left the site after demanding that more people be hired at Terminal 5 at the port. The disagreement between longshoremen and the ports had reportedly gone on for months, resulting in slowdowns in shipping.
Some businesses feel that they are stuck in the middle of the disagreement. A worker for the Seattle Transload trucking company said that people are out of work and unable to do their jobs.
This container facility is the largest in the Pacific Northwest.
