The water bottle is constantly evolving. Companies are adding new features and new designs to keep up with fashion and technology. They also want to battle the growing number of single-use water bottles that end up in landfills or as litter. (Business Insider reported that Americans throw away close to 2.5 million plastic bottles every hour. What?)
Another thing companies are taking steps toward is cleanliness. After we reported that certain water bottle designs harbor more bacteria than others, we became more aware of the importance of properly cleaning drinkware.
Enter the ALEX Bottle, which is made with what the company calls "Clean Seam Technology." This lets users unscrew the bottle at the midpoint and the top to properly scrub away anything inside that could lead to bacteria growth inside.
The components are dishwasher-safe, too, for those who don't want to clean it by hand. This could be an interesting thing for those selling drinkware to environmentally-conscious users who also want to make sure they're products are germ-free.
