Credit Suisse's Real Gold Promos Are Fetching High Prices on eBay
If you thought you saw big prices and demand for the branded products left behind from Silicon Valley Bank's collapse, wait until you see what branded gold bars are going for following Credit Suisse's purchase by UBS.
Like the SVB story, it's clear that some people took the opportunity to post some products that obviously will be printed on demand to cash in on the hype, like "Credit Suisse Risk Management Department" mugs.
But, there are some very real products, like branded gold bars, and they're selling for hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars.
Like before, I took to eBay to see what Credit Suisse-branded products were going.
First I saw a tote bag listed for $200, 1 g. 14k gold pendants for $109 (at time of publication) and a Credit Suisse T-shirt for about $20. Nothing too wild, right?
Then I got to the bigger gold bars, like a 1 oz. Credit Suisse .9999 Fine gold bar for $2,164, a 10 g. Pure gold bar for $640, or a 14kt gold bar necklace for $475.
The biggest surprises, actually, were some of the gold bar-themed products that weren't actually gold bars themselves, like a Zippo lighter meant to look like a Credit Suisse-branded gold bar for $17.

Or, you know, the gold bar-shaped linen cocktail napkins listed for $637.50. The napkins are reportedly from the 1950s or '60s, and are handmade and hand-embroidered.
Pretty fun for a collector with a few extra dollars to burn.
There are also a few apparel accessories like Herschel backpacks, watches, and more.
This fits in nicely with the narrative that exclusivity drives demand, and people want products that relate to some pop culture moment at the time. A bank going under creates some morbid collector's spirit and novelty. But, this one obviously stands out because a lot of the branded products were, you know, actual gold.
