Streetwear Brand Chinatown Market Sold Out of a T-shirt That Won't Even Fit Stuffed Animals

Buzzy streetwear brands like Supreme, Palace and Chinatown Market know exactly how devoted their customers are. They know every product they make will end up on resale markets for insanely marked up rates. That’s why Supreme makes things like catcher’s equipment and Ziploc bags.

Chinatown Market is testing just how committed to the brand its fans are by making a T-shirt that is so small it could maybe fit a stuffed animal (depending on the size of the stuffed animal).

It all started on Instagram, when the meme page @dubstep4dads messaged Chinatown Market to ask for a free shirt. When the label responded, asking his size, the page’s owner, Eric Curtain, responded that Chinatown could “send [him] any size.”

“Anything I will wear it.”

Now, here we are, after the post went viral on Instagram. Chinatown Market has made the tiny T-shirt available to the public, and despite the warning that “this will not fit you but it might fit a stuffed animal,” the $20 shirt has sold out already.

It’s 7.5” tall and 5.5” wide, so that really is a stretch for even most stuffed animals. At least it’s 100 percent cotton and was designed in LA.

Those are the magic words.

If these streetwear bands are trying to go full “Producers” and make something that will fail, it might never happen. Everything their brand names touch turns to hype beast gold. Even things like perishable Oreos and T-shirts that will literally not even fit a cat are treated the same as normal hats or apparel.
