Baking Company Moves to Accommodate Expansion and Increase Capacity
Boston-based Dancing Deer Baking Co. announced it has consolidated its multi-location baking and fulfillment operations to a larger facility in the Boston borough of Hyde Park, Mass. The move was three years in the making and is a major milestone for the 14-year-old company. The new 47,500 sq. ft. warehouse and production facility was designed to quadruple the company’s volume and allow it to continue with its technology and automation advancements. It is in an industrial location, operated by First Highland Investment Corporation, which has the potential for additional expansion. First Highland invested over $1.5 million in facilities improvements to transform an existing warehouse. First Highland is planning a photovoltaic installation on its roof along with other green building improvements.
A larger footprint, bay ceilings, more efficient layout, access to public transportation and expansion potential were among the priorities for Dancing Deer’s next phase of growth. In the 10 years the company operated at its previous location, business increased more than tenfold.
Trish Karter, founder and CEO of Dancing Deer, was optimistic about the company’s future and grateful for the success of the move, which took place just in time for the company’s most intense holiday sales period. “Our landlord and contractors were heroic. I have to pinch myself as I walk around this shining ‘grown-up’ space. We traveled a long distance from our little shop and two convection ovens 14 years ago.”
