Under Armour finally has snagged its first major American professional sports uniform deal, according to ESPN. Once Majestic Athletic's contract as the official on-field uniform provider for the MLB expires, Under Armour will become the official manufacturer.
The deal will go into effect for the 2020 season. Fanatics, the online sports retailer, will obtain the rights to produce and customize jerseys at the retail level. In terms of the official baseball caps, New Era will continue to produce the headwear for the MLB.
Majestic Athletic has been the official supplier of the MLB jerseys since 2005. So far, the MLB has not released a comment about why the league decided to make the move to Under Armour.
We will update you as the story develops.
