Andrew Philips/Millennium Leather LLC Introduces Identity Theft Prevention Products
Teaneck, New Jersey-based Andrew Philips/Millennium Leather LLC announced it is introducing Secure Tech passport cases which help prevent identity theft.
All newly issued U.S. passports and many credit cards now include a radio frequency identification data chip (RFID), which holds personal information. In U.S. passports, the chip stores the same information that is printed within the passport and includes a digital picture of the owner.
Unfortunately, RFID chips can be hacked, allowing access to personal and financial data that can result in identity theft. CNN reported that some RFID chips can be read from as far as 10 feet away.
The Secure Tech passport cases are made with a special lining, which blocks unauthorized RFID readers from accessing sensitive personal information embedded in passports, as well as debit and credit cards. Card cases, wallets and other items from the Andrew Philips line are available with the Secure Tech lining on a special order basis.
