Project Jacquard Could Be Google's Best Shot at a Wearable Platform

Think of Google's wearables, and you likely think of Google Glass or Android Wear, which is getting better but still not widely used.

But this week at its I/O developer conference, Google's Advanced Technology and Projects group showed off the latest updates to Project Jacquard, its experiment to embed technology in the clothes we wear.

A decidedly different type of wearable, with Jacquard, Google may be able to accomplish something that has so far eluded the company: creating wearable tech that's appealing to more than just geeks and early adopters.
