China's textile and garment export growth in the first quarter of this year has slowed from the double-digit figures posted in 2011—but plans are also afoot to double textile output by 2020.
The latest data from China Custom show the value of garment exports rose 3.9 percent in the three months from January to March to $29.57 billion. Textile exports, meanwhile, rose 1.4 percent to reach $20.44 billion.
In the same period last year, however, figures show the value of textile shipments soared 32.7 percent to $20.17 billion, while garment exports rose 18.5 percent to $28.46 billion.
