Boston-based Arthur Blank & Co. announced it is introducing the AB HybridCard into its GreenLine suite of environmentally friendly products. An industry first, the AB HybridCard is part recycled and part virgin PVC. The .03" thick material is comprised of a recycled plastic core sandwiched between two layers of traditional bright white PVC resulting in a 50 percent recycled plastic and 50 percent traditional PVC product. The outer layers of traditional PVC provide an excellent printing surface while the recycled core provides all the environmental benefits associated with recycled material including helping to reduce energy consumption and reducing the amount of PVC entering landfills.

Boston-based Arthur Blank & Co. announced it is introducing the AB BiodegradableCard into its GreenLine suite of environmentally friendly products. The AB BiodegradableCard is a made from a biodegradable and compostable material, with a similar look and feel to traditional plastic. The new material is industrial compostable according to ASTM International standards and meets the D6400 standard for compostable plastics. The material composts in a period of 180 days or less and breaks down into water, biomass and carbon dioxide when discarded in a professionally managed industrial composting facility. American Banknote Corporation, Fort Lee, N.J., parent company of ABnote Group, recently announced it has acquired Boston-based Arthur Blank & Company for an undisclosed amount of cash and stock. The transaction will result in combined sales of more than 2 billion cards. The acquisition nearly doubles ABnote’s U.S. operations, and provides the worldwide ABnote Group access to Arthur Blank’s capabilities, high-volume capacity and intellectual property, along with the ability to offer new products throughout the six continents that it serves. Arthur Blank & Co., Boston, was the recent recipient of the 2007 Boston Green Business Award for its CornCard USA product, the industry’s first non-PVC, corn-based card, as well as for its AB RecycledCard, a new recycled PVC card.
