Washington Capitals' TJ Oshie Celebrates Goal by Turning Into Bobblehead (Sort of...)
In what may be a first for bobblehead promotions, the player celebrated in a bobblehead giveaway actually morphed into a bobblehead himself during the game.
Don’t believe us? Just watch this video of Washington Capitals star TJ Oshie celebrating after he scored a goal against the Dallas Stars.
See that head wobble? You can’t tell us that, in that moment, TJ Oshie didn’t, in fact, turn into a bobblehead.
So what does this mean? Is there a whole swath of people out there who have been turned into bobbleheads? Surely this can’t be an isolated incident. If it somehow is, then something must be done about this before other professional athletes start turning into the bobbleheads we collect in order to pay homage to them. We have to stop this before things start to get even weirder.
OK, so even if TJ Oshie didn’t turn into a bobblehead, we may be onto something big here. Could it be that promotional bobbleheads are so successful, they actually encourage athletes not only to mimic them, but also to score goals in order to emulate the goofy collectibles?
Imagine a world where every single professional sports contest was full of promotional bobbleheads due to the fact that they improved the success of the players they caricatured? Is this a world you want to live in?
Let's wind that one back. Imagine all of that, but this time you’re a promotional marketer who sells bobbleheads. Maybe this would be an ideal world for you. All we’re asking is that, as the discoverers of this heretofore undiscovered phenomenon, you give us some of that sweet, sweet commission for our troubles. Pretty please?
TJ Oshie, if you’re reading this, could you do us a little favor and stop playing so well? We here at Promo Marketing would truly appreciate it if you could take your foot off the gas for a little while so our beloved Philadelphia Flyers could have a chance at winning the Metropolitan Division for once.
