Victorinox Swiss Army, Monroe, Conn., known worldwide as the creator of the Original Swiss Army Knife, announced the launch of the Victorinox Tomo series. The new collection puts a modern twist on the classic pocket tool, capturing the essence of the best-selling knife, while featuring a rectangular shape and sleek design.
Tomo, which means "friend" and "companion" in Japanese, combines contemporary design from Japan with the ingenuity of the Original Swiss Army Knife. It is a contemporary and eye-catching accessory for both men and women, and can fit in any pocket or bag or be worn on a key chain. The Tomo is available in white, pink, lemon yellow, mint green, capri blue, apple green and Victorinox red and can be imprinted with any logo of choice.
While the functions are well-known, the shape is new. Victorinox Tomo gives the characteristic shape of the pocket knife a completely new look without compromising any of its tried and tested functions. Behind the unusual cover lies the must-have implements of any Swiss Army knife-a blade, a nail file with cleaner and scissors. With the carrying pouch made of 100 percent recycled and reusable pulp, the Tomo conveys the ecological philosophy of sustainability that Victorinox stands behind.
The design and packaging are the work Japanese designer Kazuma Yamaguchi. His designs are just as useful as they are aesthetically appealing, and are featured in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in Los Angeles and other design shops under the design label ABITAX.
