Newton, Iowa-based The Vernon Company announced its annual United Way fundraising campaign, “Carnival of Caring,” raised a total of $23,390 for the United Way of Jasper County. The 2009 campaign total surpassed the company’s goal amount by nearly $1,500.
Corporate office employees raised $15,890 through a series of fundraising activities, including a 50/50 raffle, auction, piggy bank collection contest, walking taco lunch, bingo, carnival games, aluminum can collection, jeans day donations, and employee and retiree pledge card donations. The Vernon Company supported employees’ fundraising efforts pledging a $7,500 match toward the campaign.
“Our employees continue to amaze us with their support and generosity toward United Way, especially in these difficult economic times,” said Brad Lundquist, senior vice president of finance and administration. “I am proud to be associated with so many people who are willing to assist the local community by participating in such a worthwhile cause as the United Way.”
