While the cancellation of the South by Southwest Festival grabbed headlines a few weeks back, it was not the only notable Texas-based event to experience an alteration due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fiesta San Antonio also took a hit, as organizers needed to move the 129-year-old celebration of the city from April until November. As a result of the shift—and the rush among the public to buy certain essentials as the virus spreads and limits outdoor endeavors—artist Robert Tatum created fiesta-specific merch through a T-shirt and can cooler that bear the image of an empty toilet paper roll.

The San Antonio Current dubbed the efforts by the Alamo City creator an example of making lemons into lemonade. While Texas inhabitants and visitors to the Lone Star State are certainly feeling sour about the hitch in presenting an event that generates more than $340 million for the local economy, they can call on the promotional products as both humorous ways to combat the serious hold that COVID-19 has over our daily lives and as reminders that their gathering still stands to happen.
