Resistance Mounts to Bag Bans as More Cities Consider Enforcement
The bag bans still remain popular, with 64 percent of consumers and 61 percent of businesses agreeing with the legislation according to another Seattle survey. As the bans and taxes spread, more and more cities are expected to introduce similar legislation. Cities like Sacramento and Saratoga Springs are also considering proposals, and Redwood City, Calif. is expected to vote on one such proposal tonight. Even as that hearing takes place though, people will still be working to undo those laws: an Austin lawmaker has introduced a bill to kill that city's ban just two days after it went into effect.
