Disaster in Japan: Impact on the Promotional Products Industry and How We Can Help
In response to the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan, All-In-One, San Diego, has launched an educational effort on the impact on the promotional products industry, and a commitment to help those affected by the disaster.
Harris Cohen, president and CEO of All-In-One, offered his thoughts. "We all watched helplessly as the nation of Japan suffered unimaginable devastation from earthquakes and tsunamis last week," he said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan for a speedy recovery."
As a pioneer in introducing USB flash drives to the promotional products industry, Harris is an expert in flash memory. He explained the ramifications of the disaster: "The impact of this natural disaster has been felt worldwide and extends to our business. Japan manufactures 50 percent of the circuit boards used to make USB flash drives. With Japan unable to manufacture these necessary components of flash memory, China has reported a 30 to 50 percent increase in flash memory prices overnight along with immediate shortages. We are working diligently to minimize the impact to distributors and their customers."
Beyond the economic impact, Harris encouraged the promotional products industry to help. "We are all concerned with assisting the people who have been affected by this tragedy," he said. "We can each do our part to help, and All-In-One is making a contribution to the American Red Cross to assist in the disaster recovery efforts."
