Due to the risk of electric shock, Apple has recalled two-prong wall plug adapters for electrical outlets in Australia/New Zealand/Argentina, Brazil, Continental Europe and Korea, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The adapters can break a metal component in the adapter, which potentially can lead to an electric shock.
The specific plug adapters are white plastic and fit the following descriptions:
- Australia/New Zealand/Argentina: flat, angled blades
- Brazil: round, thin pins
- Continental Europe: round, thin pins, slightly slanted inward
- Korea: round, thick pins
Apple has received 12 reports of broken adapters, but no reports by U.S. consumers. Anyone with the recalled charger should cease using it immediately and call Apple for a free replacement.
The items were available in Apple stores—both online and retail—and other electronics stores.
