Boston-based ABnote North America introduced DuoChrome Ink. Exclusively offered by the company, the patented technology is designed to make the ink visible as one color in traditional (natural or incandescent) light and another contrasting color when viewed under fluorescent light.
While new to the plastic card industry, the technology is currently used in the gaming industry to help authenticate casino chips and dice. Verification of DuoChrome Ink does not require any special equipment, and provides a quick and easy way to authenticate print by simply changing the source of light. The ink cannot be reproduced by a photocopier or desktop printer and can be used both as an overt and covert security feature.
DuoChrome Ink is ideal for identification cards such as drivers' licenses, voter registration, health insurance, secure access and other key credentials where authenticity must be verified. The ink is currently available in two high contrasting color combinations, beige to pink and green to purple, as viewed in traditional versus fluorescent light sources.
Jake Jacobs, executive vice president of sales and marketing, said, “As the leader in secure printing in North America, DuoChrome Ink is a key addition to ABnote's already extensive line of security features. With this exclusive offering, ABnote North America is bringing a unique but proven technology to the card industry to help our customers and partners meet the increasing requirements for the security of their identification cards.”
