HanesBrands recently reported its first-quarter 2013 net sales, operating profit and diluted earnings per share. For the quarter ended March 30, 2013, net sales declined 3 percent to $945 million, operating profit increased substantially to $85 million, and EPS improved to $0.51 from a $0.25 loss a year ago.
Outer Banks
Winston-Salem, North Carolina-based HanesBrands reported growth in net sales and adjusted earnings per diluted share for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended Dec. 29, 2012.
As part of its recent third-quarter results press release, HandsBrands Inc. announced that it has "substantially completed" the discontinuation of its private-label and Outer Banks domestic operations. From the press release:
"On May 30, Hanes sold its European imagewear business, and the company has substantially completed the discontinuation of its private-label and Outer Banks domestic imagewear operations serving wholesalers that sell to the screen-print industry. In accordance with GAAP requirements, the company reported results for the second and third quarters on a continuing-operations basis and revised prior-period results to reflect continuing operations. The company's branded printwear operations will continue to operate and serve the branded domestic screen-print market."
HanesBrands has reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012. The company has also announced that it is continuing plans to remove itself from the private-label industry, including discontinuing the Outer Banks brand.
HanesBrands, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., announced today that it intends to redeem in July $150 million of its Floating Rate Senior Notes due 2014 as part of plans to pay off its approximately $300 million of floating-rate bond debt in 2012.
HanesBrands announced Wednesday morning that it will narrow the focus of its worldwide imagewear business, which sells basic apparel to wholesalers in the screen-print market. The company is announcing the sale of its European imagewear division and, in the United States, the exit from the private-label category and the planned divestiture of its Outer Banks brand.
