BIC Group has released its first quarter results for 2011. Highlights include a 9.8 percent increase in consumer sales, with the company forecasting single-digit sales growth for the full year. The advertising and promotional products division reported an 8.8 percent decrease from 2010.

Pen manufacturer BIC is using polystyrene from old fridges, recycled by Axion Polymers, to make a range of "sustainable" pencils. Axion says the "cool" Ecolution range of pencils is made of Axpoly PS01, which it sources from post-consumer fridge plastic.
