From the best in comic-con giveaways to making fun of the government, here are the 10 most popular blog posts I wrote in 2013:
10. Apparel with Live Moving Animation is Here, and It's Pretty Cool
A short post about a company that's developed a way to not only make tablets and smartphones wearable, but also use them as a way to add animation to T-shirts.
9. Entertainment Meets Marketing: Amazing Gatsby, Pop Art and Rock Music Promos
A write-up of a bunch of cool promotional products I found in the news that week, from the Great Gatsby movie to rock band merchandise from the Cold War Kids and Alkaline Trio. This post will probably be most remembered for its openings sentence of:
"Entertainment and promotional marketing: A pairing that normally reminds us of being forced to eat Hulk-colored Taco Bell at gunpoint while Rihanna sings something about love and Go-Bots in the background will, on occasion, produce something worth looking at."
Looks like somebody forgot to take his anti-cynicism vitamins that day!
8. Comic Con 2013: The Promos
Coverage of some of the giveaways from 2013's San Diego Comic Con. Note: I still do not know what "Bazinga!" means.
7. Sales Channel Conflict: How a Furniture Wholesaler Resolved the Issue of Selling Direct
An article about a furniture wholesaler who, after years of only selling to furniture stores, decided to try selling direct-to-consumer as well. It nicely parallels some of the direct-selling issues in our industry.
6. Jay Deutsch and Secret Millionaire
My thoughts and a quick recap of my interview with Jay Deutsch, CEO and co-founder of top-50 distributor BDA Inc., about his emotional appearance on ABC's Secret Millionaire. This was probably one of the more interesting things I got to write about this year. Jay's episode of Secret Millionaire is a little challenging emotionally, but also maybe something that's worth watching during the holiday season.
