R.S. Owens Expands In-house Custom Art Glass Capabilities
Chicago-based R.S. Owens announced expanded in-house art glass design and manufacturing to offer stock and custom awards in a fast and growing art glass award segment.
“Glass, particularly art glass, is one of the strongest growing trends we have observed in the awards industry,” said Larry Maloney, vice president of marketing and sales. “There are a number of reasons for this. First, art glass awards are some of the most beautiful awards our industry has even seen. They come in a virtually unlimited variety of shapes and colors, they capture light and have an elegant vibrancy,” he continued. “Second, because they are an art form, they add to an office or home decor as well as serve as an elegant recognition award. Their translucency makes them perfect awards for displaying by a window [and] natural light adds to their beauty and drama,” Maloney concluded.
“In our 2008 catalog, we included a small sampling of some of our in-house designed and fused art glass,” said Ray David, art director and creator of Owens’ art glass awards. “Customers have told us these are the first awards that catch their clients attention because of their vibrant color,” he added.
“Bringing art glass fusing and slumping (curving) capabilities in house further strengthens our ability to create customized awards,” continued David. “Many corporations have specific colors in their logos or branding identities, and we are able to mix and match from a broad variety of colors and shades to create customized glass awards for a corporate client.”
